remember 3 yrs ago when i wrote about having to organise the sports carnival for the primary school? well, just yesterday, i had done the sports carnival for the high sch boys from yr 7-12.

to be really honest, it could have been better.

but e amazing thing was altho we started later than our scheduled time, we ended earlier than anticipated. it was a very simple affair- 100m, 400m, long jump,shot put, 400m relay & 1600m relay. finished b4 lunch & followed by inter faction soccer tourney, which was very well received.

it was e first time that e boys got to play in e indoor hall & futsal court!

some of e feedbacks received by pupils & staff:

had loads of fun, a very good day, well organised, well done for a good job. could have more events like hurdles, javelin, triple jump, need cheerleaders, medals for individual events, ought to play soccer in e oval.

personally, as long as e students enjoy themselves, performed to e best of their ability & putting in 110% effort, that is all i ask of them. based on their happy expressions in their faces, the majority of e students had fun.. they even had time to build sandcastle & bury their own body in the long jump sand pit ! i kid u not.

This is my tribute to my players.

Ben-has dev into a self confident keeper & this has a spillover effect on his team mates., who play much better coz they know that their goal is in good hands. Made some amazing saves agst big games..e most improved player of e season.

Gholam-heart of the team, he made our team jigsaw puzzle complete. A nat leader showing empathy & always offers words of encouragement. Coach's dream that he has positive attitude & natural talent.

Jasmine-tower of strength, determined & full of competitive drive

Danish-possess tremendous mental strength, an essential member who is dependable & always give 101%

Katelyn-perseverence personified, excellent positional awareness & makes timely interceptionto stop wingers much faster than her.

Jerry-intelligent player who has e potential to be very good. Shows tenacity & never gives up easily.

Robert-dedicated club captain who leads by eg & is a positive role model for others. Has develop into an excellent team player willing to sacrifice personal glory for the gd of e team.

Buobo- full of drive & positive energy, an asset to e team.Show tremendous workrate as the first line of defence.

Cherno-most skilful player & strikes fear into e opponents hearts. need to be an active listener in order to be a better player.

Albert-engine room of e team & drives it forward. Confident in his own ability & is constantly trying to improve himself. Good eye for goal & golden ball winner.

Chantelle-Has an exquisite touch, dev into a more confident player. Finally proves that she has steel in her armoury.

Musa-has e most natural ability & a good sense of balance.A great dribbler of e ball, can go far in soccer with the 3 Ds.

Dylan-has potential to be a very gd player if put his heart & mind to it.

Billal-a dedicated player, has great pace & reliable worker. Show exemplary behaviour.

after a long hard season, u13 qpsc south div 2 team finally won the ladder. lost once, got e meanest defence n scored lots of goals. during e semis, we beat canning city 5-1 after conceding a goal in e 5th minute immediately after we had attacked their goal.

the final was even better; we have never beaten vic park rovers b4 (0-3-2). this year we dominated the 3 games agst them but we were very wasteful in front of goal. ie. as e coach, i have to improve e team's finishing. during e last 4 sessions, i concentrated on quick shooting, finishing n more target shooting. i told e players that we need to take our chances well to beat them coz they can score during counter attack. I stuck to my plans coz i was very sure about our weakness n need to improve them. I feel that our defence is sound enough to withhold their attack.

Moreover, based on our 'intelligence report' from our scouts, we have already identified 3 dangermen , sweeper, winger & striker. We need to nullify them by, playing wall passes, assigned our best man marker to their striker & cut the supplies to their wingman. Therefore, our tactics will be 1. penetrating run & 1-2 in their danger areas 2. Jasmine to man-marked their striker & Katelyn to cut the passes to the winger 4. be more efficient (better goal to shots ratio)

In the grand final, everyone played as a unit & followed my instructions to the T.

The scoreline was 7-2.

Life starts @ 40!

Before I start, I would like to wish mama a happy birthday today. Before the big day, she would always ask whether is there any difference after turning 40. As always, i reply "Biasa je"
Now, I have the whole hour to reflect... let's see
Being 40, after much deliberation, I can definitely say that if I can turn back time, I will NOT change anything. Let me explain.
Life is a trade off or in economic terms, involves opportunity cost.ie if you have a choice between 2 or more options, once you make a choice, you have to forgo the other option. You can't have your cake & eat it too. Personally, if i have the power to undo any decisions or choices, that will be perfect. Think about the car accident you had... if only I had looked at the rear mirror b4 I E brake..sigh...
However, like they say- there are decisions and there are decisions.
I would like to think that in the myriad of decisions that I have made so far in my life, I have no regrets in making the crucial decisions right.
To illustrate, the BIGGEST most important decision which I made occurred donkey years ago.
Once upon a time, there was this gentleman who was surrounded by many admirers & flowers- ready- to- bloom everywhere like in early springtime. There were those who did capture his fancy but the problem was the feeling wasn't mutual. (shiok sendiri) But he remained cool coz he knew that he got all the time in this world to pick & choose whom he desires.(sekali ketip, sepuluh datang terhege2) Life goes on.
To cut a story short, there came a moment when he realised that there might be this girl who send shivers down his spine( in a positive waylah) or to put it in another way, this girl who he feels has just the right chemistry although only showed in occasional flashes of brilliance.
Deep inside, he can sense that both of them possess enormous potential energy once they are together. But he let it pass coz it is only a fleeting feeling, not something tangible.
Some time passed by & it occurred to him that "EUREKA, this is it"
This may be the girl of my dreams. But being very mature for his age( UUUUEEEKKKK..nak muntah saya) he thought over it for quite a significant time. Significant coz of many factors-
once choose, there's no turning back at all coz as a true friend, he will remain true for all eternity till death do us apart. (unless the other party decided to call it quit)
Also, if choose wrongly, difficult to undo.
Moreover, life is complicated enough, I don't need more complications. Tapi, takpe, sometimes in life you need to take the chances that come your way. But the boy is willing to learn & face all challenges bravely.. talk about positive thinking!
When it comes to crunchtime, he proposed to the girl ( oi, sound steady lah) but let her to reflect for 1 full month before deciding. ( beat that for mature thinking) The reason he gave 1 month notice is because he wants the girl to make a conscious & deliberate decision, not a impulsive yes or on-the-spot decision making which can affect the rest of her life.( must be fair to her , right?) Anyway, if she answered no, it just means that they are not meant to be together.Period
For the record, she answered in the affirmative. That girl is none other than my wonderful soulmate who I have known for more than half my life ( since we were sweet 17)
I truly love you all my heart & we are truly blessed to have 4 lovely kids. For your 40th birthday, this is my present to you.

p.s. u r not a materialistic girl ..right?
p.p.s. Wat? u wan a 4*2 house as a gift..hmmm
p.p.p.s. let me think about it.

Mummy Glad

When we return home from our last hols in Singapore, I was given an additional responsibilities at work ie. relay runs at Rockingham BusinessCentre. Initially, it was a trying endeavours coz I was still new. But after a fortnight, I got used to the system & adapt accordingly.
Now, I can sense that my other soul mate seems glad that our rezeki is better as compared to the last time. Hopefully all will be fine.. I must say every morning, my stress level is getting higher due to the time constraint. Well, you can't pleased everyone I guess all the time.

I wanted to share something which occurred last week. Our family went shopping for the school stuffs & we bumped into our friend, who will be teaching sports in Langford Islamic College. So we talked shop for a while, then he casually mentioned that I look happy ( or happier I can't recall)
I asked him, can he really see THAT? Happiness in one's face?
Later, I asked the other half & she admitted that I am happier now that I am a courier instead of a teacher. It is just that she was in a denial mode. ( & still hoping that her wish may come true )
Let's analyse this:
You look happy thro your facial expressions like genuine smile, (can see a twinkle in e eyes)
face muscles (totally opposite of frowning which uses way more facial muscles compare to a cheerful face) & positive energy radiating from your aura.( macam real konon)
The last point I can attest. During my teaching days, there are mornings where I practically dragged myself out of bed & sauntered with a dreaded knowledge that you will be facing a bunch of kids you would like to give a huge 'pat' on e back.
So what's so good abt courier work? INDEPENDENCE

The start of a new decade & time to review 2010.
I believe that the single most important event last year was the fact that we make a conscious decision to become full fledged Australian. For me, the decision is an easy one coz of the fact that all the 4 kids are fully adjusted to the Oz lifestyle & education system. At the same time, they are happy here.
Muhammad, if he reaches his potential, the sky's e limit.
Danish, his peers are positive & drive one another onwards.
Sabryna,her good buddy drive themselves towards greater heights.
Sofea, best pal enjoy the other company.
Abah, realising our dream to own our house to call our own.

New Development

Now it is officially complete. We are all Aussies citizens- 6 of us including e wifey.
After getting e certificates, it is time for us to take our photos and passports. actually can wait till next year Jan but since all are ready to go, might as well do it & get it over n done with.
On another topic, we have already bought bikes for each & every one of us ( Sofea tumpang abah,ok) waiting to activate & hit e wind. Already planned with Muhd which route around Canning river we are going to take for our next bike ride.
Planning of cycling weekly..Wed or Sun..whichever is more convenient. More importantly, it is to motivate Mama, who complain that she is getting double this , double that!
The best way to lose weight is to cycle, jog ,walk, swim,aerobics,skip. Choose any one & do it 3x a week for 1/2 hr @ 60% intensity.
We shall see how it goes.

Final Match Post Mortem

Each time after our match has ended, I will usually give a few minutes of team talk. This was the gist of e last talk against the team which we beat 2-1 in their home ground; earlier in the year, we were beaten comprehensively 1-3 in our own turf.
Mert-you have improved & often delivered good crosses from the left side even though you are right legged.
Sam- Miss Dependable, I can always count on you to do a good job.
Jasmine-able to read the game well
Delilah-tough defender who is solid throughout the season
Danish-your never-say-die attitude is exemplary
Breanne-from gangly to bravery, now you r able to be a ball winner.
Ryan-your enthusiasm is commendable
Ogulcan-your sheer determination to win the ball epitomises our team spirit
Dylan-if you can score 3 goals in a game, I am sure you can score at least one coz your composure in front of goal helps tremendously.
Lazarus-instead of waiting for the ball, now you try to get to the ball & win possession.
Cherno-you have become a more complete player who is also full of exuberence
Albert-lean mean scoring machine & player of the season
Talwinder-your competitive drive is commendable

Adnan & famili turun padang ke Perth to attend his convocation at UWA. Anuar & myself berlumba2 utk jadi host mereka. The kids all enjoyed each others company & this trip is also to make up for e Bali trip( need to cancel due to unforseen circumstances)
Message to Adnan:
There are three types of people in this world, those who make things happen, those who watch things happen & those who wonder what e heck happen. You are in a unique situation coz it's not a matter whether you can do it or not.Rather, it is a matter whether you WANT to do it or not. Whatever decision you make, make sure you follow thro 100% & with no regret. We will stand by whatever decision you make.
& remember, you will not be alone here in Oz coz as far as i'm concerned, u r my brother from a dif'rent mother!

Season Ended

You all tau tak yg I'm coach of Danish's under 12 team ( by default)
Actually I'm suppose to assist the origianal coach but a few weeks b4 e start of e season, he got a job up north doing e mines. So I jadilah coach Danish.
Ni nak buat AAR for e season past. Initially our team did very well in the tourney & we top of our league with 4 wins, 1 draw & 1 lost. But we lost our left winger to a broken leg so pincanglah pasukan kita & lost 4 consecutive matches & never recovered. Some of the players were wondering how from being a very good team to a lousy one. I explain to this in this way:
Sometimes when we have our friend, mate, family around, we take them for granted. Yes, we muck around & play a fool & assume that they will be with us always. Suddenly when they no longer with us, gone move or pass away already, then we realise that knowing or unknowingly, we terribly miss them. We even have regret for not spending time, calling them, giving them a few harsh words or simply forgotten about them.
This was what happened to our team. Boyboo my left legged winger provided width down e left flank & always join in the attack. As a result we always attack in droves (at least 5 sweeping players)& score loads of goals. After he was out, we didn't have any left legged players to pay in e wings. The substitute players were not up to scratch & were defensive minded. We needed the second half of the season to improve in that aspect & to gel again to work together as a unit.
Similarly in life, sometimes we did exactly e same thing to our close family members, friends & loved ones ie. take them for granted & lack of care & concern towards them, sometimes we even reprimanded them using unkind words. But when they were taken away from us forever, we realise our mistakes & tried to turn back e clock. Like the saying, it is no use crying over spilled milk. The message I was trying to convey is dont take yr loved ones for granted or else u might regret it forever.
Subsequently we improved slowly but surely & by e last match, we managed to beat the team which outplayed us earlier & stopped them from being champion.

Leave of Absence

Lah ni tengah dok relak one korner..ape boleh buat, enforced leave.
Actually van punya pasal lah. Dah awal2 dah sign kontrak to buy on e 14th July.
Lepas 1, lagi 1 pulak buat hal. Mula2 e Mitsubishi biz mgr cakap, up to us to pay deposit $2-6k.
A few days later, another person who relief her said she will try to put everything in e vehicle loan, ie. no deposit, only higher weekly instalment. Oklah tak cerewet.
Lepas tu, a few issues lak-kena deposit 20%, so cari alternative finance company yg tak yah deposit. Dah dapat cari, nak bende like cash flow analysis, letter from employer, last year tax statement, last2 this yr tax statement..yg ramai orag belum buat pun.
Dah binyit laki bini, kita bilang e biz mgr (yg dah balik dari holiday)
You just proceed with e original company and tell us the amount of $ to put as deposit.
Nak tau ape dia cakap?
40% down payment =$8k
Kita dah ready nak kasi dia cheque $5k ( korek sana sini, baru boleh raised e sum)
So I dok terpekir kat depan depa..mana nak korek lagi $3k.
Last2 I told her:
Do you do trade in? Let's trade in my old van.
Cut long story short, Diorang ambik $3.5K for e old van.
In e open mkt, think can fetch $ 7-8K, tapi takpelah..less headache
Senang cerita, one-to-one exchange;sign papers terus drive away.
Later today at 3pm , will pick up e Mitsubishi Express Van.
Moga2 takde lagi hicups.
p.s. semalam dah call me to sign papers for e van's registration. hai , awal2 dulu tak suruh sign
I think if e original biz mgr didnt go for e hols, can avoid all these hassle.
Miscommunication btw e two cost me additional hols for me..yelahh kan boss sendiri,
ada keje,ade gaji.

New Opportunities

Peace to all
So much to tell but no time to tell.. see how busy !
To recall e most important events..
-Muhammad's teacher called me up to inform me that he had been strongly recommended by his subject teachers to be in the Academic Excellent Programme ie. Yr 8 first classs. All his teachers were adamant that he be in that class as his academic performance in the first term had been excellent. We told him that he shouldn't pass up on this opportunity as it is rare that a student is given such privilege. We also told him that we were extremely proud of his fantastic performance & to continue his good work.
-mama n me sat for e citizenship test & alhamdullilah, we passed. This is only the start of a fresh beginning in our bid to be Oz citizens. Pray hard for our pursuit.
-After one-and-a half year doing courier work, I am ready to make the step up to work for one of the biggest public company in Oz, Messenger Post. Last Friday, I had an interview with the personnnel head and I pun action jual mahal. ( I'm keeping my options open)
Masa dia tanya pasal experience, I bilang all the managers in e companies I was attached to were very pleased with my work. (in fact, on Monday, I will be attached to TNT, one of the big three courier company)
She asked bout my wages n informed me that they were willing to up my salary by 10-30%.
(hmm quite an attractive option)
Suddenly, I received a call today from her asking me when can I start working. ( wow so fast)
Told her (jual mahal lagi) in a fortnight's time coz need to buy van, set up company n insurance
& dont want to rush everything in one week. No worries, by 26th july then.
pray hard for us.

Pre-Camp Night

Last nite, we invited e Anuar family over to have fish head curry plus pappadam dinner & also for Ali to have a sleepover in our brand new 8-men tent. The objective is to learn how to pitch e complex looking tent with all its contraptions n unfamiliar parts. With this tent, we have to unlearn our old way of pitching tent ( in which I was quite terrerlah) Tapi sekali kena pukulan new age tent, I tergaruk kepla. Baca manual pun tak faham bab lots of new terms.Tapi lepas set up, boleh tahan bab ade 3 bilik plus time out patio. Actually kita saja pasang khemah ni utk prepare our Margaret River Caravan Campsite this Easter Long Weekend. Tak lah nak kelam kabut tang tu kena setup, tang tu juga first time buat. (1 hr job boleh makan berjam kang..itu pun satu rod tak tau mana nak attached?)

The kids all hooray coz they got to play table tennis in e house. The older folks pun tak nak lepas peluang juga. All of us enjoyed e gamed immensely, sampaikan ketawa pecah perut.

p.s. FTR, e men overcame e women's team 2sets to love...tak pe nanti boleh return match.

Free n Easy Weekend

People of e warld!
For the labour day long weekend, we went to Ledge Point Holiday Caravan Park.
for 3D & 2N. (Nak experience caravan park for e 1st timelah katakan)
We booked a 2 bdrm chalet which was very modern n clean 4*.
Very hot summer 35deg..reached there terus lepak kat bilik aircon n take cover from e sun after a long 1.5 hr drive up north. About 4pm baru ventured out to e surrounding area, straight to e beach..Wow u can really feel e huge different btw e cooling waters n e hot air on e sandy beach.
ended up till almost 7pm. Malam bbq yummy lamb ribs.
Next day, went to Lancelin for sand boarding. Hit e nearby beach where e water is crystal clear during noon! Perfect for snorkelling or diving. Mummy can't resist e temptation of e inviting water n joined in. Balik chalet for after lunch siesta n 5pm , went to Ledge Pt Beach to fish. WE caught 3 fishes n caught e beautiful sunset while casting e reel. Balik BBQ ikan pari n chooks.
At nite, I taught them to play Chinese chess n Muhammad managed to beat me! Beginners luck.
Last day, we went to Yanchep Beach to complete our beach hopping adventures.
This time round, e sea was really turquoise. Lotsa people snorkelling coz lotsa corals n big fishes near e coral beach. Before heading home, we went to e mango plantation to pick mangoes.(supposed to wear gloves but heck..just do it.)

Dinner Conversation

Every nite, we make it a point to eat dinner together as a family when we will talk about our day n stuffs we heard on e radio. The previous night, we watched the movies Predator n Return of e Jedi. (channel surf) That was after we reached home from catching crabs in Mandurah. For e record, I caught 1 n Muhammad caught 6.
Whilst eating e very fresh crab, I remarked that e crab looked like Predator monster. Coincidentally, both movies got similar scene of removing e masks off. So I told them:
Sekali predator bukak topeng, muka Anakin Skywalker botak. All laughed.
Kita tukar channel, Darth Vader bukak topeng, dalam muka crab! LOL
Si Anakin bukak topeng, alih2 tengok keliling hutan je , alamak aku salah setlah. ALL Laugh.

(p.s....actually we were all laughing at abah's humorous laughter, ketawa terkekeh-kekeh!!)

Posted one of the pictures taken at the Italian Car Show that we went to see over in Caversham. Even the infamous Lamborghini that was previously being confiscated by the police for hooning. Owner, a doctor, got it back because it was his mechanic who had driven it at that time. It was reported that he used the yellow Lamborghini for house calls. Muhammad met his school mate whose father showcased his 2 Alfa Romeos. Another week before the long weekend. Going to head over to Ledge Point for 2 nights getaway, about 1 and half hour away from city up north. Dengar-dengar can catch lobster there so will need to purchase one of those traps.

Oz Day

What did we do on 26th Jan 2010?
Since it was Oz Day holiday, the kidz suggested we go to e beach. Promptly reached Coogee Beach at 9am & it was already teeming with crowds. So we did e usual things on e beach- play ball, swim, body board, sandcastle, makan.
Then Muhammad decided to snorkle using e body board. Since there's only ONE board, we shared half2. Happily trying to look for blowfish or any other organisms, we swim side by side.
Out of the sudden, he noticed a large creature about 20m away. I tried to dismiss it as another fat bloke swimming. Tapi kenapa orang ni ade whiskers? Sekali sea lion dahhh!
Kita pun excited & nak tengok dgn lagi dekat. Tapi dia menghilang. Tengah cari dia & bertanya sesama sendiri kat mane dia pegi?
Aleh2 nampak satu bayangan hitam yg besau betul2 bawah sea level depan kita.
Ape lagi kita pun dgn pantas, belakang pusing & swim free style dgn board2 sekali.
Dalam hati, ini macam boleh audition jadi extra kat dlm film Jaws.
INilah hari ini dlm sejarah kita berdua anak beranak masa Australia Day.

'92 Pajero

Just bought an old but still in good condition Mits Pajero last Friday.
Everything in e interior is still functional.
Muhammad-like the 4 wheel drive e best coz can go Lancelin off road.
Danish-e sunroof is cool
Sabryna-like e radio n air con
Mama-still intimidated by e sheer size
Abah-As long as an SUV, tak cerewet.
Will be sending it to e RAC for vehicle Inspection assessment to see any fault next week. After that , we can plan for any trip to go camping.
Hmmm need to buy tent n some other camping stuffs. Anyway, my first born seemed enthusiastic to go camping, see how it goes.

Perfect Lunch

Today, I had a break near the Cottlesloe Beach for lunch..just nice time abt 15mins to savour my warm maggi mee asam laksa cooked with love, albeit quickie, to the music of Def Leppard's Love hurt, love biteeeee! Angin sepoi2 bahasa n I at a vantage point facing the true blue Indian Ocean.
For me, perfecto.

KL trip

What a wonderful time we all had! Full of shopping, eating, reading n having fun.
The highlights:
Muhammad- the Sunway Lagoon was e best coz we got to play on e slides.
Danish-I like the Haunted House at the Cosmos theme park..so scary
Sabryna-I like the Bumble bee bumper car coz all of us get to play.
Sofea-...airplane....sleep...play
Abah-The drive from KL-Sunway n Megamall was fantastically enjoyable coz no glitches thanks to all e vehicle commanders in e car.. my real vh comm was e penglipur lara instead of e navigator but as long as e driver keeps his cool, all's well ends well.
Mama-The reunion of e girls esp Sharifah whom lost contact all these yrs, so good to see u again
p.s. Abah would like to put on record his appreciation to the ladies who had to put in their time n effort to come together both near n far n reminiese their cedarian time once again.

Happy Anniversary to Us

18th Nov was our 14th wedding anniversary but as far as i'm concerned, it's our 21st year together. We met in college in 1988 & a year later, cut story short, sound steadylah.
Amazingly, when I decided to let her make her own choice, I already knew in my heart of hearts that she is E one. The reason I wanted her to say yes or no is because only she alone can see the qualities & my characteristics then.. but still willing to accept me as I what I am ,warts n all. ( of course my positives far outweigh e negatives!) For me, very simple, once I know that the person is for me, I will remain true.. until THAT person doesn't wish to be together.
For all these years, I am truly grateful to Allah & my wish is that may we grow old graciously together in harmony.

According to Muhammad, this weekend was 'very good'.

On Sat, after helping my neighbour moved house to Canning Vale, we had lunch at Nando's b4 heading to East Perth. U see, I discovered this plce while having my morning break after delivering my early morning job. Took e whole gang there n once reached e place, tak tengok kanan kiri terus literally terjun.

u see, e place has a slope quite similar to macritchie reservoir where we used to slide down using cardboards. so for half an hour or so, sliding down pakai different styles..even mummy tak nak lepas peluang. during dinner of hodogs, i proposed that we catch abalone at Bennion Beach but have to set off at 6.15am! they enthusiastically agreed unanimously.

Actually, this abalone season comes only 6x annually. During summer, the beachful of corals are open to the public in the early Sunday mornings from 7-8am to pick abalone. Apa lagi, lots of Chinese,Japs n other Asians will come in droves armed with crowbars, screwdrivers n pouch nets. But each person is only allowed to take 20 shellfish, otherwise e ranger will check n fine u on the spot. Imagine if 2 abolone cost $50. E Ozzies will snorkel even deeper n further.

For e record, we caught 14 of them.

E first time, I didn't know what to search for, so I observe one elderly uncle n follow him. (Tangkap skill dululah) At first I catch anything but abalone..hermit crab, sea snail.

Once i caught my first one, I showed e uncle n he nodded his head in approval.After tat, Muhammad n me were on a roll! Danish managed to catch one near e rocky beach.

Next Sun, we planned to invite our neighbour n Anuar to go b4 heading to the swap market at Karrinyup.

Oct Babies

Last week, we celebrated baby Sofea's birthday by having a garden dinner at our backyard.
Thankfully I finished work at about 4pm & we had an early dinner of char kueh teow, bubbly halal Shiraz, banana/chocolate cake.
The other week, we celebrated Danish's birthday.
On that morning, I asked him whether he wanted a brand new shoes or mountain bike.
His reply" Shoes because if I don't have a new shoe, I can't ride the new bike"
He later showed me his tattered shoes ( berlubang kat depan)
Danish 2, u remind me so much of myself in u...tak cerewet n low maintenance.
Semoga kedua anak abah kelak menjadi anak yg soleh & soleha serta berilmu tinggi. AMIN

Solo time

Today is my second time off away from everyone. At the Riverton Library after logging off at 1630hrs.
This year's Hari Raya was LOVELY..though low profile coz we didn't make our HRP open house..(how to, 4th day raya fly back to SG) Managed to do all e essential stuffs within 10 days.
Of course, the most important were the 2 soccer matches played on the same day..morning at 8.30 with my ex BPSians players. Thanks a million Amos for organizing the game.(for e record , i scored 1 goal)
& at 1630hrs met up n played with my VS team ( this time , 1 assist for Elango who was e MOM)
REally appreciate everyone who made it a wonderful day to cherish.
Time to go..

Ramadhan Resolutions

Salam to all
I noe, it's been a while..anyway selamat beribadat di bulan yg diberkati.
My personal vision for this year is to improve ourselves in terms of ibadat compared to our previous years.
Our famili resolutions are insyaallah:
to perform shalat maghrib jemaah,
conduct kuliah maghrib with famili members,
with e intention to memorise e asma ulhusna, several short surah(mummy's suggestiona) n discuss a hadith a day(mine),
boys going to shalat terawih.
We shall start small scale first, see which one is manageable first.
if ok, we will proceed to kuliah subuh if we sahur closer to imsak time.
I prefer sahur at 5am coz imsak bout 5.12am now.
if we did shalat jemaah isyak n subuh together, it is equivalent to performing shalat e whole night,"Sesiapa yg bershalat Isyak berjamaah,maka seolah-olah dia seperti bershalat separuh malam, & sesiapa yg bershalat Subuh berjamaah,maka seolah-olah dia seperti bershalat malam seluruhnya."
ie from 7.30pm-5.20am abt 10 hours!
equals 60x shalat (assuming 10 minit salat wajib n sunat rawatib,so 1 hour 6 shalat)
furthermore pahala x27 sebab shalat berjemaah.
Those expert in maths shd do e calculations.
Why am I sharing this?
I remembered a hadith:
Rasullullah s.a.w. said "Sampaikanlah dariku walaupun 1 ayat."
Let's beribadat smart, shall we?

world class trekking

Bibbulmun Track is one of the longest walking trail in the world from Perth Hills to Albany coast down S-W Australia!
What a way to kick start our end-of-the-chicken pox-enforced-stay-at-home quarantine.
For the kids, they were cooped up for almost a fortnight at home playing their psp n what have you. Once they were officially free to go out, we decided to go hiking with the Anuar family.
After an auspicious warm up session down the railway heritage trail, we started on the very challenging trek. Started at 10.30am, we reached the halfway point about noon near the highest point of the Darling Range..the view was breath-taking.
Being gung-ho, we continued till we reached the Rocky Pool where we had our makan break. At this point , we had to make a critical decision
-backtracked our way safely but steep ascent or continued to go around the Schipp Walk Trail but unknown 2 hour trek.
Finally we decided to take the first route. We took 40 minutes to return to our starting point.
kidz thoughts'had fun trekking with friends, enjoyed the walk, exciting because we can explore the nature & my legs were hurting me.
"for me, my hips hurt coz I need to carry Sofea in the hiking backpack"
e best part was when we completed the whole trail, we were so famished that we wolfed down Wana's brilliant beehoon goreng. Thanks everyone for making it a good day out.

After a loong hiatus, now have some free time to update my blog.

At home taking care of sofea n danish, mama working on a sat at uwa, so danish layaning sofea while l chill on the net.
After almost half a year working on e road, I realise that I do not miss teaching at all.
things like:
school camps,(lebih2 lagi kalo ada happening at nite)
cca like soccer training n tournaments(unless jadi champ)
deptl meeting(esp writing minutes,confirm hantar few wks late)),
e dreaded work review wit hod(esp pandai arrow je,delegatelah katekan)
nerve wrecking sharing sessions with e sch(they're all waiting for you to c*** up e whole show)
target setting(tak penah kenah),
hols remedials(jemput satu class, dtg 2-3 bebudak je),
weekly teaching file(tell u a secret...tak pernah hand in to my hod...heheheh),
sow(paling sian, dah lama2 tukar date je n nasi tambah ),
key in result,remarks n what hav u(kira attendance sampai mata naik juling),
never-seems-to-be-ending-soon staff meeting,
meet e parents session(aka wayang session)
staff retreat,bonding or training(buang masa je sebab tak pernah apply to class situation)
Of course, there were many highlights in one's career.

One year's up.

15th January marked our 1-year anniversary of our life in Oz.
These are my reflections for the past year.....
One year has gone by. For myself, it has been a pretty challenging year for me. It was a steep learning curve and I've learnt a lot about being a teacher in a new environment. It is not easy to adapt to the Aussie kids and I definitely need more time to get used to the environment and culture here. If you grow up here and then decided to teach, it will be much easier as you fully understand the psyche of an Aussie students and how their minds work. You would be better prepared to handle the behavioural management /situations. Although it is quite similar in Singapore in terms of the flowery languages used, the students here know their basic rights and can be quite demanding. Furthermore, the most you can do is to send them to the principal, who will have to talk to their parents. For me, as a new comer to this way of life, I faced a daunting task in this aspect.

Looking at the bright side, I feel that this is the perfect time to have a mid career change. Frankly after 13 years of teaching high school kids, I yearn for new experiences and opportunities. Becoming an independently-owned courier gives you the freedom to manage your time to suit your needs. Besides, the possibilities are endless, just a question of whether you want it or not.

Approaching the big four zero, sometimes your priorities in life changes too..up to a certain point, money matters little compared to the amount of time you spend with your loved ones...to see them grow thir first tooth, their first walk, all over again.

The cycle of life continues.

Well, it is that time of the yer where we will be celebrating a double birthday.
Actually, it is a 4-in-1 celebration.

Therefore, we had a BBQ lunch with a few close friends together namely Adnan, Hasri, Rahman & Hamkha families.
It was homely and relaxed affair without much fanfare- e kidz got preoccupid with their ps2, psp & ds games while e parents reminiese about their younger days with retro malay music from the
1990s courtesy of Rahman's hard disk.

Christmas Festive Period

This weekend, the whole family will be off for a jolly extra long holiday. Last Sunday, we went to Scarboro beach to chill out with Uncle Adnan's family. The only missing were the body boards.
On Christmas Day, headed to Point Walter for a family gathering cum outing cum birthday party. It was a wonderful experience strolling the Swan River mudbank followed by swimming and treasure hunting for the kids. For the record, the girls team beat the guys team by 1 correct answer.
On Boxing Day, we shopping sakan at Harbour Town to purchase my red Adidas jerseys(long & short sleeve with 30% discount), our new swimming gears including my billabong bermudas before having our usual lunch at shimizu restaurant.
Our next stop was City Beach which was so gusty. Now we were well prepared with our armour ie. body boards. We even used them to take cover against the wind erosion.
The next day , we completed our swimming leg at the Beatty Town Aquatic Centre. This time round, I just relax one corner and read the newspaper while keeping one eye on the kids, who were playing with their mates down the slides and water playground.
Tomorrow, stay tune for our Farm Stay hols in Bindoon where we will milk the cows, shear the sheep and ride the horses. Over n out.

Yet Another Adventure

People of the Warld.......
Tomorrow onwards, I will be embarking on a totally new adventure.
I have already informed my principal about my new job as a courier with effect from 15th Dec 2008. He was very calm about it and wish me well.
I would like to thank him from the bottom of my heart for having the courage to take me in as an educator in the college. He has been supporting me all the way till the end.
I hope that I have contributed and make a difference in one way or another to the students.
The one-year stint has absolutely make me wiser and richer in experience.
The highlight for me is the Sport Fun Day last week which I had prepared since May. Hopefully I have made an impact and leave the school on a high note.
The kids love racing and to be able to see and let them enjoy the activity really make my day.
I like to think that most of the kids did win at least a ribbon and each and every one of them run according to the best of their ability and complete their races regardless of their final position.
That, I believe is the most important thing, i.e. performing their very best. The cascading effect, that they have fun and enjoyed themselves will come naturally.
Hence forth, I will be known as the courier man starting from tomorrow.....Pray for me.

Today is LIC's Sport Fun Day 2008. Let's recap all the positives:

From the expressions of the kids, it seems that they enjoyed themselves tremendously.

Some of the quotes from the students are-

For me, I am thankful that it went relatively smooth considering that the weather was erratic.

I enjoyed seeing the younger kindy & preprimary kids running the races in the undercover area, they were so adorable.

All these cannot possibly happen without the support of the teachers and parents who assisted in one way or another. Just glad that it was over and no major glitches or accident occurred.

We went to check out Swan River to recce whether we can do white water rafting or not.

The place is serene & tranquil, the kids like it very much. Apart from rafting, you can hike, fish, swim, picnic,etc.

It's been super busy this past week. We had Majlis Iftar on the last day of Ramadhan especially for lonely families from Spore. Rather than spending alone with our own family, I decided to invite 3 other newbies-families-spending-our-very-first-Hari Raya Eve-away-from-home to get together for a simple dinner cum takbir gathering. I am sure all of were feeling poignant deep inside when we recite the takbir in one voice. TAK BOLEH ANGKAT BABE!!
On the day of triumph, we salat at Rockingham Mosque before visiting 7 houses in a single day..same record as our first day back home.
On Sat, we went to Shekeen's open house where she painstakingly prepared Hari Raya fare just for us. Thank you very much.
On Sun, we held our own open house. Actually, I wanted to make just for a small group of friends who are my soccer kakis but the list grew and grew. In the end about 30 guests turned up.
On Mon, we were invited to Adnan's house for a sumptious chili/black pepper crab, pasta, nasi goreng and mi mamak dinner. Everyone thoroughly enjoys the food plus the company and chat.
The next day, after sending Wak Sahar, our surrogate father, to the airport, we went to Swan Valley to explore the area. We spent our time at the Animal Cuddling Park, sample free chocolate at the factory, partake the cheese & visited the Maze. Tomorrow we will speed to Rottnest Island...stay tune.

Thank God that we have the opportunity to meet another month of Ramadhan this year.

All except baby Sofea are fasting full day. Well done Muhammad,Danish & Sabryna.

Today, we went to King's Park with Uncle Rahman & Uncle Hasri families.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with lots of activities lined up for everyone such as magic acts workshop, mini tennis, African drumming, mock sumo, reptiles & mural painting. These are some of e photos taken by my kidz. My wish for father's day is that may all your dreams come true.

First Steps

After living in Oz for about 7 mths, I feel that all of us have settled in very comfortably here. All the kids are relatively pleased with their friends & school life, the missus enjoys spending time with baby Sofea and myself contented with the working life here. One CRUCIAL difference between teaching in Spore & here is that I can REALLY enjoy my school vacation..no more camps, CCA, remedial programmes,etc.
Therefore, all of us decided that it will be great if we are to buy a house instead of forever rent one.(makes more economical sense) Today, we take our first baby step in realising our dream of living in a landed property which doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Costing less than $375K, we decided on a 4 bedroom with 2 bathroom plus activity room with 2 carports and ample backyard(bigger than e current house). We meet up with the financial broker, building property agent and tomorrow with the land agent.BTW, the plot of land is situated near a prison. Hopefully, everything will be settled somewhere next month. Pray hard for us.

Farewell Buddies

It's been a wonderful 10 days of adventures & I am sure I will miss our nightly supper & sharing sessions. Received an email from Anuar which I would like to share with you all. It captured very concisely what we did together.

......Anyway, we are safely back with reality now, Work, family, work, singapore, work.. all 'go-karting' at speed. Zooming and 'wannerooing' head on.
Minds and brains are somewhat still.. elsewhere. The 'salt and tinge of vinegar' of that 'chips and fish', still 'cottesloeing' the 'bays and beaches' of our taste buds.
The break that we had was 'LOVELY', with capital L, O, V. E. L and Y..
It definitely rekindled friendships, 'mining' back the memories while ('brick')-laying new ones.
Importantly too, the trip definitely freshen up our 'charcoaled'and 'cockburned' being, 'canola'-ing our perspective and provides a shake up to our 'bulgarian hard rock' egos.

The family was GREAT despite needing adjusting to our presence. The hospitality are WONDERFUL.. Thank you all.

Amran & Anuar are my good buddies from Gan Eng Seng School.

A Week's Left of e Hols

After my return, this is what we did:
-organised Muhammad's birthday party at QPRC on Sat
-Had BBQ for Alice & Adnan family
-Library trip for art n craft session for e kidz
-Sent e van for servicing (finally)
Had a chat with my neighbour about the auto bahn services
He shared some useful tips before sending my van there & it worked.
As long as we are friendly & respectful to the servicing personnel, they will treat you nicely. Don't forget to ask questions, otherwise they'll be none e wiser.
I told them that they're highly recommended by my neighbours coz of their great service & requested that they quote a best price for my van as this is a family van. Guess what? They slashed the price from $235 to $165!
-Watched the Yusuf ashton family circus & we got ringside seats
-Joined the snowplay at Perth City
to be cont.

Japanese Anyone?

Do you wish to learn to speak Japanese?
WHY NOT?
The language is so fascinating, from my observation of Japanese tourists talking amongst themselves. I find that they are all very polite & the language is rather subtle and at the same time, full of nuances.
Why suddenly talk about this topic?
WHY NOT?( This is my new motto)
If I can enrol in a course which also offer some sort of immersion programme that enable you to travel to the country to really engage in the culture, language and lifestyle, wouldn't that be AWESOME! Wonder who will sponsor me.

In the morning, wanted to surprised my better half but end up dragging her along to purchase pastry from danish pastiserie..sorry no discount.
Then, mowed the lawn before we had our ayam masak kicap lunch.
The dish reminds me of my all time fav childhood food. Next we had a BBQ at tomato lake where we had cheesey hotdogs for the kidz & lamb french cutlet. It was lip-smacking, melt in your mouth esp if you eat it right after you bbq it. Managed to snap the sunset..rt place at e rt time.

New Challenge

Just had a brief meeting with a colleague where we discussed about the possibility of organizing an athletics meet. Just the tot of it is daunting as it will be a massive undertaking. One interesting incident came about the other day where a pupil came up to me & asked whether the sch will hold a track & field meet & I am e one to do it. I just reply"Insya-Allah". Let's all pray together that it will take place eventually. Afterall, it will be 4 e students' benefit as they seem eager beaver to have a competition that they can call their own. Belum start, dah rasa pressure!

A New Beginning

This week marks the dawn of new chapter in my teaching career in LIC.
The principal suggested that I will be the Physical Education cum English support specialist. When I first heard the news, I was over the moon with this new & exciting development. So far, the response from the pupils of the Primary school has been encouraging. Most are very enthusiastic and actively participating in the tasks. Today, I talked to some of the pupils in Yr 2 while we were waiting for the transport home. A girl talked to me about how she liked the lesson the other day. Well, she made my day so much sweeter.

Busy Weekend

It's been a very hectic weekend with all the visitings we've made on Sat & Sun.
On Sat, I visited my mentor in Australia, Mr Viv, who has been a great help since we moved here in Jan. Next stop was Rahman and family in Belmont, who organised a BBQ party at 5pm. Managed to squeeze in a drive up to Nollamara for an important get together soccer slumber party at another mate, Noorhidayat, who also make us feel welcome & at home since we set foot here. Today, we spent half a day at the Al-Hidayat Food Fest to savour the delicacies on offer. Afterwards, we visited a Singaporean family who put up in Armadale. They live in their very own cosy cottage which they purchased recently. Overall, it's been a fruitful weekend because all the houses which we have meant to visit but can't due to our busy schedule were finally done.
